Sophisticated Script & Suite Sayings - Mixing It Up for FabFri83 & GDP029

I'm doubling everything up today!  TWO posts, TWO different stamp companies mixing TWO sentiment sets and TWO challenges in this post... I actually had time to stamp last night! Yay!

I first saw this sketch a few days ago and loved the simplicity.  Both of the cards are using this sketch.  I may have stretched it a little, but it's just how I interpreted the sketch :)

I had just received my Sophisticated Script stamp set from Concord & 9th on Monday and couldn't wait to try it out.  I'm a pretty loyal SU! girl - never blogged about any other stamp set, but I absolutely loved this calligraphy look.  Heck, maybe SU! will come out with something very similar in the new catalog!

I also love the sentiment set called Suite Sayings in the Occasions catalog.  Here I took the "for being you" part and added the thanks from the Sophisticated Script set.  Those letters lined up so easily!

For the second card using the Fab Friday sketch, I paired the colors from the Global Design Project blog. I'll be honest and say that I got these colors out, glanced at the (already great) submissions and thought "nah... I'll skip this week".  But later on that night I decided to make one more card mixing the C&9th set and the Suite Sayings and thought I'd make this a card I could give to my hubby.

I do love the orange and it reminded me of my husband's orange Jeep.  I decided to add the chevron embossed layer to look like tire tracks and the sentiment... well, it speaks for itself.

The colors are a great masculine combo, but I did add some Wink of Stella to the word "smiles" just for fun!

Here I stamped the "smiles" out in Bermuda Bay first.  Then I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the "my heart" and "just thinking of you".

I'm happy with how they both turned out and hope they inspire you to mix things up!

Make sure to head on over to Fab Friday and the Global Design Project blogs to check out all of the great inspiration!

See you back here Friday for another TGIF Challenge!

Farewell to the Friday Mashup - A Beautiful Ride

Today I wanted to share with you a card I made for the final Friday Mashup challenge.  This was one of the first challenge sites I ever played for but honestly hadn't played along with for a long time.  I think I have too many challenge sites saved and not enough time to play!

Nonetheless, I wanted to play this week.  I really liked the sketch.  Make sure you head on over to www.fridaymashup.com to see the challenge site and check out the inspiration.

Create a Project with an "Easter theme or Chicks & Bunnies"
or Create a Project using the above "Sketch"
or Mash it Up and create an Easter project using the Sketch above.

I chose to just use the sketch since I don't really have many Easter stamps, and well, Easter has come and gone!  I also had this idea in mind when I saw the sketch and was relieved to know I didn't have to use both categories for the challenge. Whew!  (See I told you it has been awhile since I've played along!)

I masked the white stripes with washi tape.
After sponging the sunset colors, I carefully pulled the washi tape off.

I added some stars and a little shimmer to the center of the wheels by adding some Silver Dazzling Details.  Love the extra pizzazz it gives!

While I had my sponges out, I also wanted to try another technique I saw on instagram.  Loved the black and white trees too.  They are from the set In the Meadow.  The sentiment is from Suite Sayings.

All three of these sets are in the Occasions Catalog from SU!  You could order all three and still earn a FREE Sale-a-Bration item!  You have until tomorrow, March 31st, 11:59p MT.

Thanks for stopping by midway through your week!  Make sure you head on over to The Friday Mashup and say farewell to a great challenge site.  I saved a few blogs to my homepage while I was there.  Great talent!

Have a blessed Wednesday!

TGIFC48 - Remix with Sprinkles on Top!

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you are excited about this month's remix challenge with TGIF Challenges.  I always thought the idea was so fun and clever - so much to challenge you with :)  Want to play along??

Pick 2 or all 3 of the challenges below.  Make sure to mention us in your post and you're all set!

Can you believe March has almost come and gone??  I cannot believe how fast this month has gone by.  And actually, I can't believe how fast this week went!  I realized yesterday afternoon that my card for this month's remix was due last night and I was running out of daylight! I literally took over 90 pictures of this card.

I know. I'm crazy.

I took pictures outdoors, indoors, under my Ott light...
I really wanted you to be able to see all the details.

I used the no-line watercoloring technique on the cones and ice cream and added some Pink Pirouette splatter on the card too.  But my favorite part of the card are the mini ice cream cones and the Dazzling Diamonds circles around the bigger cone.  Both of these stamps come from the Project Life set in the Occasions catalog called Memories in the Making.

I hope this subtle sweet tooth card inspires you to mix it up with us!  Make sure you head on over to TGIF Challenges and see what the other team has come up with too!

Happy Easter! HE IS RISEN!

Stamp Review Crew Debut - Made with Love

Hey everyone!  I'm so excited to announce another fun team that I'm joining!  This team of stampers from all over the globe are super talented and I'm so honored to be joining them!  The Stamp Review Crew highlights a particular stamp set on the first and third Monday of each month, so I hope that they are some stamp sets you own and that you are inspired to get them out and ink them up!

Otherwise, we're just a big group of enablers! ha!

Today we're featuring the Made with Love stamp set from Stampin' Up!:

My post last Friday featured the cute little bunny for some Easter treat tags, so I thought this time I'd actually use the set for a baby card.  Except, I kinda went a little crazy...

And of course, that means Bring Your Own (BABY) Bottle...

I wanted the font to match with the inside "congrats" so I used the Alphabet Rotary Stamp inside too.

Nonetheless, I was really pleased with how it turned out.  I know exactly who I'm going to send it to and I know she'll get a kick out of it!

Please make sure you visit EVERYONE on the hop.  There's too much talent for you not to :)

Your first stop is the talented Lisa Young.  My mom and I share her card ideas by the masses, so I know she won't disappoint!

If you're feeling adventurous, you can go backwards instead and start with the talented Kelly Kent on her paper crafting journey!

Have a fantastic Monday!  Please take a minute to follow my blog so you don't miss our next hop!

Hoppy Hoppy Easter with TGIFC47

Last week I received my Stampin' Success magazine in the mail and saw the cute little bunny from the Made with Love set used for a card other than a baby card.  It had, in fact, all of the little animals from the set all lined up.  Super cute!  It got me thinking about using it for an Easter card and then I remembered I bought some Peeps to try this fun recipe with my boys.  All I needed was a cute little tag to go with it!

That's where this week's challenge from TGIF Challenges comes in handy :)
Who doesn't love a sweet tooth?

Except for me, this challenge is literal.  My tag might not have a sweet tooth theme, but these pastel Eastery crispy rice treats are certainly sweet!  Check out the original recipe from Yellow Bliss Road.

Isn't the tag cute?  I had to trim them up a little after I tied them on the bag - didn't like how much of the yummy treat was covered up.

I shaded the little bunny in Crumb Cake to match the tag.  I wanted a pop of color other than the "hoppy hoppy" so I trimmed the Watermelon Lace Trim just to give it a little extra somethin' somethin' :)

Of course my kiddos don't understand why they can't eat all of them at once!  I guess I'll make some fresh ones for Easter!

I hope to see your SWEET TOOTH creation this week over at TGIF Challenges!

Blessings!

You're So Sweet - TGIFC46

Welcome back to another fun challenge with the TGIF Challenges design team!  This week is a simple sketch - so no excuse to not play along! :) Plus, if I made time to play - so can you!

I wasn't sure I would get a card made this week.  Tuesday morning I took our boys to the gym and left my husband in charge of doing a load of laundry.  We have an older set up where our washing machine drains water into a big tub on the rinse cycles.  Well, long story short - I had left a dishcloth in the sink and it clogged the drain.  I came home to a partially flooded house!  We had to tear out all the flooring in our laundry room, bathroom, pantry and entryway to the garage.  The ceiling to our storage room below leaked too.  It's been a crummy week, but we're still thankful that it wasn't worse.  God is still good! :)

I did manage to escape to create a card.  Stamping is such a stress reliever!  Plus I received this stamp set in the mail Wednesday and thought it would be perfect for this sketch!  (Cathy Caines did too! haha)

I paired the Apple of My Eye with the Silhouette & Script hostess set from the Annual Catalog.

And this has nothing to do with stamping, but my little guy Drew was playing cars and wanted me to take a picture of his "fast racing car" while I took pictures of my card.  It's easy to forget our blessings when our lives get "flooded", but I'm easily reminded with my boys that it's all good!

Hope you have a wonderful Friday!  Make sure your creation gets linked up over at TGIF Challenges!

Blessings,
-Holly

Celebrating Birthdays with The Creation Station!

Welcome back to another fun hop with the Creation Station! This month we are featuring birthday themed products from the Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog.  I snuck in a set from the Annual catalog as well because we can't forget all the goodies there too! :)

If you just came from Sara's blog, thanks for continuing on to me. You will have to check out her other post from earlier this week - she made some adorable Cinderella themed treat boxes!  Anyway, make sure you make your way around the hop! Lots of talented ladies that I have the privilege of creating with.

Last night we celebrated my husband's birthday.  It's actually this Tuesday, but his best friend from our military days flew in from Texas, so I planned the party around his visit.  It was a great celebration!  He also works in IT and fixed my internet this morning.  You can thank him that you're reading this! :)

For my creations, I chose to feature some new products - It's My Party DSP stack, Balloon Bouquet Punch, Number Of Years Bundle, Party Punch Pack (small balloon) and the Party Pop-Up Thinlits (which are awesome!!)  I also incorperated 2 sets from the Annual catalog - Age Awareness and Endless Birthday Wishes.

These Party Pop-Ups are a two pack.  You can either snip the ends of the birthday cake, or leave them attached for the pop-up effect.

See, how neat is this???  Well done, Stampin' Up!

Now since I secretly want to be a party planner, I knew I wanted to make a cake topper.  These balloons were the perfect addition to this yummy cake!

It was such a fun day!  Thanks for letting me share some of it with you!  Sorry there was no chocolate or cheesecake left to share :)

You know what to do now!  Go check out the talented Nicole!

or go backwards and continue with Sara!

TGIFC45 - Color Challenge with Tap, Tap, Tap

Hey everyone!  It's FRIDAY!  Which means two things - it's the weekend (for most!) and I have another card for you today in honor of TGIF Challenges!  This week we are challenging you with some very spring-like colors.  Next week they're calling for 50's here in Minnesota which is awesome! So why not think spring? :)

http://tgifchallenges.blogspot.com/2016/03/tgifc45.html

I wanted to play around with a set from the Annual Catalog called Tap, Tap, Tap.  This will be my Stamps in the Mail set this month so I wanted to start getting ideas for the kit.  I started off by stamping the typewriter on Shimmery White Cardstock.  This cardstock works so nicely with the aqua painters.  I think the Mint Macaron color is very vintage, don't you?

The Pink Pirouette comes in to play with this simple background card I found in the new Project Life collection in the Occasions catalog called Memories in the Making Project Life Card Collection 140573.  There were a few pool party and mint macaron cards too, but this one I thought worked perfectly.  I want to get my scrapbooking started, but in the meantime, these cards are great for card layers!

I hope you join us this week!  Head on over to TGIF Challenges for more inspiration! Enjoy your weekend and be sure to come back Sunday to see the birthday fun I have planned for my husband's party tomorrow night!
