OSAT-Blog-Hoppers-Spring-Flowers

Hello and welcome to our very first blog hop!  We're excited to have you join us!  We are a group of stamping friends from the Facebook group "One Stamp at a Time".  We wanted to bring you a monthly hop full of creativity with hopes to inspire you!  This is a talented group of ladies and gents, so feel free to follow along and learn something new!

If you're coming from James' site, thanks for continuing on to me!
Talented guy, huh?  :)

This month's theme is spring flowers.  Let's just say, I'm not feeling the spring here in Rhode Island.  This week has finally seen some days in the 50s, but there's still a ton of snow!
Here is a picture from last Thursday - 7" of snow...

I feel like it's going to take forever to melt!  I remember taking pictures of my boys at the barn last year for Easter.  I don't think it's going to happen this year...

So as you can imagine, "thinking of spring flowers" might not be easy for me right now.  But Easter is around the corner and I'm still very excited!  Easter is my favorite holiday. I grew up in church (my dad is a pastor) and my love for Easter runs deep!  The old hymns on Easter morning that I can hear my dad singing, the smell of fresh flowers that filled the church, and ham dinner (yum!).  But most of all, I love the reason for the celebration! And a perfectly named stamp set - Indescribable Gift - is the set I'm featuring today.

The colored flower is actually different than the background flowers - but only slightly.  If you noticed, I cut my flower up to fit closer together on the circle. To get this look, I stamped the image with whisper white ink and embossed it with white embossing powder.  I colored the flowers with my calypso coral blendabilities on the back side of the vellum.  (Now I know these are not available through Stampin' Up!  at this time, but I know that some of you have them and still use them.  There are other brands that are alcohol based that you can color on vellum.

I absolutely love the look stitching gives a card - a simple and easy detail that really makes a card special!   Here's an upclose shot at the stitch.  I also added a few dimensionals to the circle and the words Happy Easter.

I also wanted to give you another option in case you don't have the markers and/or a sewing machine and you want a simple yet elegant card that showcases this set.  The card on the right was a quick and easy card!  It took less than five minutes to make!

I hope you enjoyed this post.  Check back every second Thursday of the month for our hop.
The lovely ladies following me are some very talented sisters!  Click on the next button and head on over to see what they have created for us today!

Thanks again for stopping by & happy stamping!

-Holly

  5. Love your card! I'm thinking I would also like to include some stitching on some of my cards. Was looking at purchasing one of the small machines so as not to use my Bernina. What machine do you use?

    1. Thank you Diane! I have a brother machine that I have had since I was 12. It's a cheaper one... I don't know how bad it would be though on your nice bemina. Can't imagine sewing cardstock is much different than a thick material? Idk...
