WWYS? - What Will You Stamp Guest Designer!

About a week ago, I was asked by Cindy if I was interested in joining the Design Team over at What Will You Stamp (WWYS) but I sadly had to say no (for now).  I was very honored to have been asked, so I said that I would do one week for now if they wouldn't mind.  If you haven't visited this challenge site, please do so!  The ladies are super talented and the concept is great!  They feature a certain stamp set to highlight.  Cool, huh?  I haven't played along yet because I have yet to have had the stamp set when I remembered to check out the site.

We're still waiting on a phone call with the location and date for my new job and we anticipate it being any day now. The only Design Team I'm open for at the moment is SU's Artisan Design Team - hahaha!  But thank you ladies from WWYS for having me this week!  It means a lot!

I hope you enjoyed this card!  If you have this set, get it out, make a card and join the ladies this week at WWYS!

"Be You" - TGIFC Throwdown #3

My mom and I share the love of stamping - it's a special bond.  We send each other pictures of cards asking for opinions, send each other pins, split paper and ribbon shares, and we share our stamps.  We live about 8-9 hours apart but always make time to stamp when we visit each other.  (Some days we wait until the night before I leave to cram in a stamp session :/ - not how I'd like it to be!)

I just returned from a visit and had the intentions if making a card for this month's Throwdown Challenge.  I don't have the Flower Patch stamp set and wanted to use my mom's set.  Well, we waited until 10pm the night before I left to stamp and I totally forgot!  (In fact, I almost forgot to use her Barnyard Babies set for my feature on CrushOnColour!)

Then I remembered that when she visited my house last year, I stamped a few of the sentiments off!  They were in the bottom of a tin that I have in my stamp room! :) woohoo!!  Mom to the rescue again!

So here are the basket ingredients and pantry items for this month's challenge:   I promise, I did use Calypso Coral - my pictures make it look more pink!

In case you were wondering, yes - you didn't see a framelit or punch on the list.  So here's the trick: to get the look of the butterfly, I embossed the silver glimmer paper and cut out the butterfly.  The easy way to see the line to cut is to turn the paper over and cut the white side.

I liked the look of these simple and quick mini cards so I made another one!  I added an "E" and cut up one of the sentiments.

Hope these inspire you to play along.  Head on over to see more at TGIF Challenges!  Have a great day!

FMS200 - Just Be Me

I'll be honest.. Anytime there's a big milestone on a card challenge site, I tend to shy away.  It's usually when everyone makes the greatest cards ever and well, I'm not always in the zone.  There are a ton of great cards already submitted!

But then I think, "why not Hol.. This is what you love to do, give it a shot!"

So this is me. I didn't over think the sketch - just wanted to keep things clean & simple... and shabby chic - because I adore anything shabby chic! :)

Congrats to Freshly Made Sketches and their 200th sketch!  And thanks to all of the sponsors for a chance to win some goodies! Hope you like it! Have a great week :)

TGIFC17 & Fab Friday 71 - You're Wicked Awesome!

Typically Friday's are reserved for my "freestyle Friday" posts - where I show you a card or project that I've made lately that isn't linked to a challenge, but when I saw the new theme for TGIF Challenges this morning, I had an idea right away!  The colors for this card are inspired from Fab Friday.  Mindy picked a great Autumn combo that's perfect for a back to school theme!

I am already over summer and ready for fall!  I love the colors, smells, food, corn mazes, decor...  And New England is the best place on earth to see the colors change!

Another thing about New England that I have discovered over the last year or so living here is the certain things the residents say - like lobstaa & Baaston...
and "wicked awesome"!

What kid wouldn't love to get a card from their mom and dad their first day of school that says "you're awesome!" or in Rhode Island - "you're wicked awesome!" ?

When I saw the new Project Life Seasonal Snapshots set from the upcoming holiday catalog, I immediately thought of how I could use "wicked" for my New England ladies.  Either I'm not that into Halloween or living in New England is rubbing off on me! :)  This set is adorable and covers all the upcoming holidays! The Old Olive stitching on the inside is from the set too - I love it!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wicked awesome day!

Triple Up Thursday with Crush On Colour - Barnyard Babies!

I'm super stoked to share my post today!  I'm so honored to make a guest appearance today for Crush On Colour and her Triple Up Thursday post!  If you haven't checked out my friend north of the border, you. are. missing. out.  Shannon is super talented and I'm rooting for her to be selected for SU's Artisan Design Team (I'm also rooting for myself, haha!)

Anyway, long story short… Shannon asked if I wanted to do a Triple Up Thursday post with her and I didn't hestitate to say yes!  However, when she sent me a list of stamp sets to pick from, I had two.

My mom came to the rescue and I chose Barnyard Babies.  I also picked 5 colors:
Pool Party, Hello Honey, Watermelon Wonder, Wild Wasabi & Soft Suede.
(I did use Memento Black too - oops!)

This hog one was my favorite one to make.  I stamped the second hog by stamping it onto a clear block and then onto the cardstock. This will give you the reverse image.  I did have to use my marker to fill in some of the image.

If you came from Shannon's blog - thanks for stopping by!  If you didn't, make sure you head on over and bookmark her page!  She's a keeper :)

Happy Stampin'

TGIFC16 - Herringbone Burst!

I'm back from a 2 week vacation at my parents house and let me just say - I came home to a clean craft desk that needed to be used.  It missed me! :)

Today I'm playing along with my favorite challenge blog - TGIF Challenges.  Make sure to check them out!

I first made a herringbone card that you can see further down.  Since I already had the strips cut, I thought I would put them to good use and play with the burst sketch.  This color combo was inspired by the PLxSU kit - Moments Like These.  Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron and Basic Black.

I love this hostess set - I didn't think I would use it much at first, but I'm so glad I decided to order it.  If you would like to earn this set yourself, contact me to find out how!

A little detail inside to make it extra special. :)

I hope you liked it!  Here is the card next to the herringbone card I made.

I had not tried this technique before, but Brian King made one this week and I had to try it out!  It's a great way to use up scraps.  Or if you are a DSP hoarder, it's a great way to cut it up!

Thanks for taking the time to swing by my blog!  I would love to hear from you :)

Also take a minute to check out my sister-in-law Nicki's little creation!  (I tagged her shop on my instagram.)  She made this adorable boston for my friend's little girl.

Card matches perfectly!

CYCI82 - Settin' Sail!

Happy Sunday friends!  Just a quick post before I head off to church.  Vacation is over tomorrow and this is the last Sunday to hear my dad preach for awhile.  Sure has been nice to be back home.

This week is a sketch challenge thanks to our lovely design team leader - Eva!  Please click on the image below to see what the team has come up with to inspire you. :)

This is not a card I particularly love, but I did want to show you how neat the decorative mask is!  This stencil comes with 3 other designs for only $6!  Score!

And the little sailboat - adorable!  This is a photopolymer set that's been out for quite awhile, but it's not in the catalog, so many miss out on it.  There are others online only, so make sure to take a look!

The set is called Settin' Sail.  You may have noticed my Settin' Sail title?  Though it is the name of the stamp set used, it's also a play on words - as today is my last Sunday (for now) with CYCI.

We are hoping to move in the next month or so, and right now the time I have to escape the stress, I want to be able to stamp whatever is on my heart.  Stamping is a very important part of who I am, so there will still be plenty of stamping and blogging.. Just not necessarily with CYCI or SIP.

I hope out of sympathy, you play along this week!  Do it for me, okay?

Happy Sunday to you and happy stamping! :-)

OSAT Blog Hop - Back to School!

Welcome to another OSAT blog hop!  If you are joining us for the first time - welcome and thank you for stopping at my blog!  If you came from James' site, I sure hope you like what I have made!  He is a tough act to follow!

Can you believe we are halfway through August already??  School is just around the corner for many and we are playing along with the Back to School theme this month!  (Let me just say... next year when my oldest starts Kindergarten, I will probably sob through my typing!)

I had a lot of fun with this month's theme.
I just received my Words of Truth set and wanted to pair it with the Schoolhouse DSP.
Might have been an obvious choice, but I'm not "too cool for school(house)" paper. =)

I have to credit the Artisan Design Team for twisting my arm for this set!  Glad they did! :)

This is the perfect card to give to your child or grandchild to encourage them on their first day.

Bookmarks are an easy and quick project to make.  There are kids out there that still read books in their hands and not on an e-reader, right??

This corrugated paper!  Love it!!

Make sure to stop by everyone's blogs (the full list of hoppers are below).  Don't forget to check out the One Stamp at a Time facebook group!  Next is the talented and sweet Ginger :)

Have a great day!

Stamp, Ink, Paper 9 - Sunshine Sketch

Wow, we are already at week 9! The time has sure flown by!  Take a moment to check out the design team's creations and link up to join the fun. Click on the sketch image! :)

www.stampinkpaper.com

I have been enjoying "shopping" in my mom's craftroom for stamp sets I don't own.  This one in particular I have glanced over countless times... but I love this saying!

A little detail on the inside never hurt anyone, right? :)

I sure hope you take the time to play along at Stamp, Ink, Paper.  I will be taking a break from the Design Team until we move.  This was a hard decision to make but a necessary one.  Stamping is my escape, and I need it to stay that way or I will go crazy.  Don't worry - I will still be stamping and blogging.  Just a little less stress without two design team commitments.
My SIP and CYCI teams will be missed! =(

Join us this week for my sake! haha

Happy Stamping -
Holly
