Beautiful (Beachy) Blessing - TGIFC66

Happy Friday everyone!  We had a great week here in MN with nicer (cooler) temperatures and lots of rain for the garden - but now we have too many misquitos!  I also hosted my first stamp class at my house since we moved here and all 6 ladies that came had a blast!  I've never had two classes going on at once - so I'm very excited!

But, enough about me!  We have a new challenge over at TGIF Challenges - we are picking our favorites from JUNE and casing them.  It could be a design team member or a challengers card from TGIFC #62-65.  Pick one you like and share both the original and your take on it!  Simple enough!

The last two times we have done this challenge, I chose two challengers cards.  This week I was inspired by this card made by a fellow DT member - Jennifer Frost.

I love the watercolored background and the beachy feel.

I didn't want to use the same set for the focal point, so I decided on another sea themed stamp set.

The lighthouse is from the set From Land to Sea and it's paired with the sentiment from Rose Wonder.

I wanted to add some color to my card so I added some Calypso Coral Thick TwineBy the Shore DSP stack & I colored the lighthouse and oval with my Aqua Painter.

I also stamped the background a few times with the sentiment.  I love the graphic look of repeated words.

So there you have it!  I hope you liked the card (and the original)!  I can't wait to see what you come up with for this week's challenge!

Blessings!

'Affectionately Yours' Highlight #3

Welcome back to the last of my Affectionately Yours DSP feature.  If you missed the first two posts, you can go back to Tuesday and yesterday's posts to see more.  I've created 12 cards using all 12 designs from the paper pack.  Each piece was a 4x4" piece (or smaller) which was done to show you that you can get 9 pieces from each sheet.  That's 108 cards for $13!!

So here are the last 7 cards.  Again, make sure you check back on the other posts to see the first 5 cards.

If you want to know how you can get your own Affectionately Yours DSP, check back here on June 1st!

See you tomorrow for another TGIF Challenge!

Beautiful Blessing - TGIFC43 reminder!

If you follow me on Instagram - I promised earlier this week that I would share the gift I made my mother-in-law Linda.  Her birthday was yesterday and she does view my blog often, so I had to keep it secret :)

I wanted to make her something to let her know how special she is!  I had bought this frame at Christmas time to give her with a picture of her 3 grandboys but time got away from me and the frame moved to a pile in my craft room.  For her gift, I was inspired by the sketch for this week's challenge over at TGIF Challenges.
If you haven't played yet, you have until 10pm PST tonight (2/24).

I haven't used the Remarkable You stamp set much since I've purchased it but I wanted to switch the flowers up from my original post

I stamped the sentiment on the background too just to add a little extra detail.

And who wouldn't want this cute Party Punch Pack??  The slider was simple to make - measuring the piece of DSP around the box with enough wiggle room to slide off and on easily.

Linda loved her gift and I was so glad she did.  It was fun to make!

Make sure you join us this week for the 43rd TGIF Challenge!  You have all day :)

TGIF43 - The Newest Member of...

This past week I received a message from Mercedes asking if I would be interested in joining the Design Team for TGIF Challenges!  I have been a fan of the challenge site since day one and I am certainly honored (and pretty dang excited) to be on board!  (Thanks ladies for having faith in me!)
I hope that you enjoy my style and play along each week!

So this first challenge I tried to keep true to "me".  I like subtle colors & lots of white space.
I am really going to miss Lost Lagoon!

I hope you can get an idea on how much shimmer is on this card :)  I used Wink of Stella on the base of the rose and the lines of the yellow flower and I splatter some glue on the card base to give it a little more shine with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

I also thought it'd be fitting that I incorporated a metal rimmed pearl.  I won a pack of these when I won the first TGIF Throwdown (many moons ago). =)

There are 3 roses and flowers stacked on top of each other.  I glued them together and on top of a piece of matching cardstock.  I then fussy cut it (very carefully) to get the solid look underneath.   I saw Teneale Williams do something similar with this card and couldn't wait to try it myself.  Love the dimension it gives!

I carried the stenciled look on over to the inside of the card and finished it with another sentiment from Rose Wonder.

Don't forget the envelope!

So there you have it!  I hope that you join us all over at TGIF Challenges.  I'm excited to bring you some inspiration!

Looking forward to seeing your submission!  Have a great weekend!
