TGIFC02 - It's a Celebration Sketch!

Around here, there has been a lot to celebrate this week!  Yesterday I received my official offer letter from the FAA!  I'll soon be controlling the skies again! (Don't be scared!) I was an air traffic controller in the Air Force for 9 years and I'm so excited to be doing it again.  (Jen Timko and I have joked that she "stamps on the fly" but we don't think "stamping in the control tower" is a good idea!)  But the job is certainly something to celebrate! :)

And then there is the obvious celebration tomorrow - Mother's Day!! I have been a mom for a little over 4 years.  No job is harder than being a mom.  Not even separating airplanes!  But there is so much joy and love that fills my heart.  It's a hard job, but it is so rewarding!  I love my three boys so much! They've been such blessings to me and my husband.  Eli is 4, Andrew is 2 and Sam is 10.5 months.  This picture is from last September but it makes me smile! I though I'd share it with you!  Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers reading this! Hope you feel special and are celebrated today!

So speaking of celebration - I decided to make a celebration card to go along with the sketch for the TGIF Challenges second challenge.  If you haven't heard, there's a new challenge in town and it's packed with a talented design team.  Go check it out!

Here is the sketch for this week:

And here is my take on the sketch:

The sponged banners were my inspiration for the card.  I recently finished an order for custom birthday invites and ran the banner framelit through my bigshot 86 times! Needless to say, I had many pieces of card stock lying around looking like stencils and I thought "this will make the perfect background".
A dauber and some Lost Lagoon ink and there you have it!

For the sentiment I combined two sets - A Dozen Thoughts and Project Life-Remember This.  The PL framelits fit the sentiment perfectly.  I also added silver glimmer to the stars on the sentiment to give it a little extra bling :)

For the inside, I just added some scraps and stars.  The blue pieces I found on the floor.  Am I the only one who does this?? Lol!  My mother-in-law says I save too many scrap pieces!

(Now you see why Linda!) :)

Thank you for stopping by!  Hope this week gives you something to celebrate too!

Happy stampin' :)
