An Early Ten Minute Tuesday - TGIFC06 Challenge

Tomorrow I am traveling to Boston Center to finish my medical clearances for the FAA.  Since I won't be home for Ten Minute Tuesday, we can call this "Make It Quick Monday!" :)  This was a quick card to make and certainly a different approach to "water coloring".  Now, when I think of water coloring, I immediately think of flowers and coloring with paint brushes or aqua painters. But I wanted to do something different.  I tried this skyscraper scene once last fall and thought I would try it again. Do you recognize the set? It's Calling All Heroes!
This week over at TGIF Challenges, they're looking for our best water coloring cards so this is what I came up with! I'm also entering this in the Pretty Pink Posh Watercolor Hop! (click on the image)

This might look more complicated than a 10 minute card, but remember, this isn't Ten Minute Tuesday - it's make it quick Monday!  So, we won't set a timer - but I promise you, once your paper is cut, you'll have 9 minutes to spare! :)

The first thing I did after cutting my paper was stamp the top skyscraper in memento ink.  Now, I personally wish this was a more solid image, but this can happen with porous watercolor paper.  I also know that the image isn't a perfect reflection, but who cares?  Well, maybe me and my OCD - but oh well!  It's not noticable at first, right???

Next, I took my Blackberry Bliss marker and colored the image again.  Then I stamped it in memento ink one more time.  I wanted a little bit of purplish/navy coming through.  Before I stamped the image a second time, I lightly spritzed the stamp with water.  After I stamped the image, I immediately dabbed the excess water/ink with a tissue.

I absolutely love this look!  And the cool thing about water coloring is that it's never the same look!  So I could make this card again and it wouldn't look exactly the same.  Extra character :)

For the sentiment, I used the "You're in my thoughts" stamp from A Dozen Thoughts.  I used my Mint Macaron, Blackberry Bliss and Basic Black markers to give an ombre effect.

A little diamond "stars" and the card was finished!

Thank you for stopping by (again) today!  Come back Thursday for the monthly OSAT Blog Hop and make sure you head on over to TGIF Challenges and see what all the fun is about!

Stamp, Ink, Paper - An ALL NEW Challenge :)

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a great weekend!  I have some very exciting news this morning!  If you've been around the card making hobby for awhile, you may have heard of Justin Krieger.  I am so honored to have been asked to join the Design Team for his all new challenge site Stamp, Ink, Paper.  This will be a weekly challenge and I hope you take time to bookmark the page - because you're going to want to play along!

So without further adieu, here is our first challenge!
http://stampinkpaper.com/2015/06/sip-challenge-1-getting-to-know-you/

So how perfect is this!?  As a design team, we get to show you our style and we get to learn all about you too!

So here is the card I made for you all.  I picked 3 things that are all about me when it comes to stamping.  My favorite go to set - Gorgeous grunge, my favorite color collection - subtles, and a sentiment from the Trust God set.

I'm a simple card kind of girl - but always like a little extra detail on my card.

I chose this stamp set because I love all of the sayings in this set.  I love to send cards with these verses/sayings because I feel like they send an extra blessing to those that receive my cards.
(If you didn't know, I designed the Banner Blessings set for Stampin' Up! - always thought there was a need for more scripture verses.)

So remember to start you week like this:
Live Simply
Love Generously
Care Deeply
Speak Kindly
Leave the rest to God

:)

Have a wonderful day!  I hope to see something from you at Stamp, Ink, Paper!

CYCI73 - A Color Challenge

I hope you are having a great weekend!  If this is your first time to my blog - welcome!  Every Sunday, I post alongside some very talented stampers at Can You Case It?  I love being a part of the design team - even if life is busy!  In fact, I have 3 challenges to post for this week all as a design team member AND the moving boxes in our house are piling up!  But no worries - my stamps are staying out of the boxes for now!

There is always time to stamp! :)  It's my little break from the chaos!

This week's challenge over at CYCI is a color challenge.  When I saw the graphic below I was excited!  They look so pretty... But I soon found out I was having quite the challenge making it work.

Nonetheless, this is what I made for you all today to help inspire you so you'll want to play along!

If you don't notice the DSP right away, look a little closer.

Yep, you guessed it! The Typeset DSP is a favorite and I am so giddy that it carried over!  I colored this same pattern with a Daffodil Delight marker for my son's construction themed birthday party.  All you need are the markers!

Here is the inside:

I have a bonus card today too!  This was actually the original card I made for the challenge.  I liked this one a lot because it's super simple.  I like how soft the colors look here too - it'll be the perfect wedding card for my friends who are getting married TODAY!

Well perfect if it were delivered and not sitting on my desk! :)

The background is made with the Sahara Sand and Blushing Bride markers.  The skinny black line and squiggly stitching is made with the PL journaling marker.

My advice for the "doodles" is to just do it quick without thinking.  If you draw too slow it won't look freeflowing :) (Hope that makes sense...)

The inside said congratulations and I drew a little heart for the new Mr. & Mrs!

Hope you stop over and check out all of the other design team's creations and take time to play along!

And be sure to check back tomorrow!  I have a brand new challenge to share with you!
Happy Stamping!

-Holly

Sprinkles of Life - Cupcake Toppers

Welcome to the Wednesday edition of Ten Minute Tuesday! Yesterday was hectic with the catalog launch and my monthly stamp class that I completely forgot to post my Ten Minute Tuesday project!

This one was so quick and easy that I'm thinking many people will be making these cupcake toppers soon with the new Sprinkles of Life stamp set.  We made two cards last night with the set so I wanted to make cupcake toppers to match.  My husband was so awesome and he made these oreo cupcakes for the girls in my class.  We were very impressed!  I think he's now in charge of the snacks. :)

The Sprinkles of Life set and coordinating Build a Tree punch made these a quick project!  I made 7 in under 10 minutes.

My new camera lens gets here tomorrow! I will finally be able to take better close ups!

And of course... If you give your stamp class ladies a cupcake,

somewhere a 4 year old will ask for one too.

:)

Please check out my current product shares! Get a little bit without spending a fortune!

TGIFC05 - May Remix!

Check this out!  The new challenge page that I've participated in over the last few weeks is celebrating their "first month anniversary" with an end of the month remix!  This is how it works:  First head on over to TGIF Challenges - Then pick two of the four challenge themes and mix them together for an all new project.  Pretty cool, huh?  I didn't have much time to think about this one.  We have family visiting in a few hours and my craft room is our guest room - so I had to make something quick and clean up!  But, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.  Sometimes you just got to roll with it and not think too much :)

For this card, I combined the colors of the first challenge (Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Crushed Curry) and the sketch/layout of the second challenge.

And quite honestly when I started out, for some reason I had three of the challenges in mind.  So technically, you could throw in a third challenge and say that the "Enjoy the Adventure Ahead" goes along with "graduation" theme.

Maybe I'll get a bonus point? haha!

This bike is from Life's Adventures and it will sadly move to my "retired" stash next week.   The good news is, the new hostess sets are just as awesome!

I sponged and colored the stars for the background.  It definitely needed something, and I wasn't diggin' an embossed layer with the DSP.  Lots of dimensionals on this card too!

The inside is simple but still fun!

So there you have it! Of course I'd want you to try the challenge with me, but then my odds of winning a prize would be worse.

Yes, I said prize…  They're giving away a prize pack worth $25+ to the winner!  Sounds like a great bonus to me!

Thanks for joining me today!  See you tomorrow for CYCI Sunday! =)
