CYCI78 - Let's Add a COLOR!

Today's challenge at Can You Case It? is a simple color challenge.  Let me say, picking one "color" to go with black and white seems like it would be easy... I'm not so sure it is!  I mean, a flower needs a green stem, not a gray one right?

Well nonetheless, you should still play along with us!  Click on the image below to take you to the challenge website.

I chose Blackberry Bliss as my color.  I love the deep rich tone and think it's one of the prettiest purple's SU! has ever had.  I colored the flower by squeezing my ink pad a little and using a blender pen.  A little stitching around the edge with my paper piercer gives it an extra detail.

I hope to see you linked up at CYCI.  Head on over and get inspired! :)

Have a wonderful Sunday!

TGIFC11 - A New Framelit?!

I needed to make a card for a friend today and I thought I would play along with the new TGIF Challenge.  I always like a sketch!  I've been pretty busy with our move and played last week for the first time in awhile.  And well... I finally won!  I was shocked, but just as honored to be picked!

So here is the sketch for this week's challenge.  Click the picture to head on over to their site.

For some crazy reason I passed on ordering Awesomely Artistic with my first order from the new catalog.  Once I came to my senses and ordered it, I could hardly wait to receive it!

Here's my first card that I made with this set.  This set is pretty "AWESOME"!  I added an ombre look to the sentiment using Mint Macaron, Lost Lagoon and Island Indigo markers.

I'm excited to show you something I discovered!  (Are you wondering how the tag was made!?)

I love trying to use my punches in new ways. Mercedes Weber recently used the bow builder punch to make this tag.  As I looked at the punch a little closer, I thought I'd try something new and fancy-up my corners. Yes... fancy-up :)

I layered the sentiment on Basic Black CS and punched the corners again.

Pretty cool, huh?
And just because I love to "fancy-up" the inside too... Here's a look at the inside of the card.

Sure hope you enjoyed this new trick!
Please give it a try - and pin it too!

Happy stamping!

Freestyle Friday: Go Wild

I received some new goodies in the mail Wednesday and couldn't wait until my sister and her family left so I could stamp!

Okay, that was rude... and so not true!  I miss them already!  We had a great week together and the only way I could get my mind off of them leaving so soon was to stamp my sadness away! :)
(That sounds better)

Two new products that I got from Stampin' Up! were the Go Wild DSP stack and the Cottage Greetings stamp set.  The Go Wild DSP was a little bold for me at first - not sure what to do with animal prints.  Then I looked a little closer and realized how great the other side of the "animal" prints are!  Yay for double sided DSP!

I absolutely love these arrows :)

I wanted to get a close up of the white accents and these adorable chunky fingers got in the way!

The second card I made showcases another piece of the Go Wild DSP.  The black and white striped piece is actually the other side of the piece that is the background.  The Mint Macaron square is from the Moments Like These PLxSU kit.  (You could certainly make something similar with the star from the Moments Like These stamp set.)

There you have it!  I hope you enjoyed the two cards I made with the Go Wild DSP.  If you're looking for other ways to use DSP, check out the current challenge over at SU Only Challenges!
Off the play around with more goodies...

See you Sunday!

This month we are featuring Christmas in July cards and projects!  I had to convince the group to change this month's theme and I'm glad I was able to persuade them. :)

I also couldn't wait to use this set with the Watercolor Wash background stamp.  I knew it would look adorable as a sky.  What do you think?

I love this White Christmas stamp set and was so happy to see it return in the catalog!

We picked our own strawberries last Friday and I spent my July 4th afternoon making jars of jelly!  These jars will be great Christmas gifts!

I hope you enjoyed my card and project!  Please take the time to check out everyone in the hop!  Pin your favorites and leave some love!

Next up is my sweet neighbor Martie!  Well, she's not really my neighbor, but she's lives 30 minutes away!  Thanks again for stopping by!

Stamp, Ink, Paper 4 - Andrea's Wedding Flowers

It's been a fun past few days with my sister and her family visiting.  Many trips to the beach, birthday cake, fireworks, someone smashing into our mini van at the beach parking lot! and even some stamping...

Today I'm sharing with you this week's challenge over at Stamp, Ink, Paper.  The inspiration comes from the wedding flowers our design team's very own Andrea Tracy-Tucker.

Aren't her wedding flowers beautiful??

So I originally wanted to make a card with flowers and coral, yellow and white, but if you know me, I'm not big on floral cards.  Once I started making this card, I chose to soften the white with some vellum butterflies.

I saw this card and absolutely loved the layout.  Certainly a simple approach that many could come up with, but Rochelle knows how to make it work!

For the butterfly, I added two layers of vellum flowers, gold twine and one of the new Tip Top Taupe accents.

And this sentiment - so cute :)

Please take the time to visit the challenge site and see what else the design team members have to offer!

Happy Stamping :) See you Thursday!

CYCI 77 - A Sketch Challenge

I hope that all of my readers from the good ol' USA enjoyed their 4th of July celebrations yesterday!  My sister and her family came to visit and it was so nice hanging out with them!  They visited once before on the 4th when we lived in Alaska.  This year was warmer and no so rainy :)

Today's challenge over at Can You Case It? is a simple sketch challenge.  This was an easy sketch to play along with, so you have no excuse not to join the fun!

http://wp.me/p4g33G-ww

I chose some fun DSP from the Cherry on Top stack!  This is perfect for birthday cards - for a guy or girl, kid or adult!  This particular card is for a special stamping friend that lives close to me!

I cut this piece of DSP so I would have the Watermelon Wonder banner for the inside of the card.
Simple and sweet :)  The sentiments are both from the Butterfly Basics set.

Please join us this week!  We'd love to see your creation!  Click on the CYCI image at the beginning of the post to see all of the Design Team's inspiration!

Happy Stamping!

Freestyle Friday: Celebrate Baby

If you've been a follower of my blog for awhile, you may recall that I had been posting a Ten Minute Tuesday card each week.  I recently was selected to join a Design Team that posts on Tuesdays, so I wanted to mix things up.

Introducing...

Yay!!! I'm super excited about this!  I want to do a weekly post about any kind of card or project - pick my own sketches, color combos, inspiration... Plus, no ten minute time limit!
Just make whatever I feel like!

Sounds fun right?

Here's the card I made today:

Love to layer embossed pieces with the DSP.

The wooden accent is such a fun detail!  And the price for 15 is unbeatable!

I didn't necessarily need a baby card at the moment, but this new Sweet Lil' Things DSP is too stinkin' cute!  I just had to share!

I sure hope you have enjoyed this creation!  I may or may not post more often than Sunday, Tuesday and Friday, but rest assured, Freestyle Friday is here to stay! :)

Have a great weekend and happy 4th!!
