Love is in the Air with The Creation Station

Welcome to our Creation Station blog hop.  We are a group of international SU! demos that blog on the first Sunday of the month.  Now obviously, this is the second Sunday of the month, but I'm not sure we were all on our computers last weekend since it was a holiday.  This month we are highlighting Love - whether it's a Valentine's Day treat or just a love themed creation... We hope you enjoy seeing our projects made with Stampin' Up! products.  Be sure to make your way around the entire blog hop - there is lots to see (and pin!)

I decided to make a card and little gift bag with the new Sealed with Love stamp set and matching framelits.  I'm not a huge Valentine's fan, but this set has lots of cute little hearts and a few small primitive images - one that I used as a background.

For the bag I used the Gift Bag Punch Board, stamping the "Hugs & Kisses" stamp over in Mint Macaron ink. For the little tag I layered a piece of Sending Love DSP that I punched out using the Best Badge Punch, the hearts and arrow are from the Love Notes Framelits Dies. I also punched out the sentiment using the Classic Label Punch.

The ribbon is the Sending Love Ribbon Combo Pack - Real Red and Whisper White.

For the card I used a scrap piece of Real Red cardstock that I cut three arrows from.  I actually cut these arrows out while I attended OnStage back in November.  The arrows were a part of our Make & Take, but I like to plan ahead sometimes and thought if I cut them out a certain way, maybe I could use the negative for something else.  Yes, I save weird stuff like that and hoard too many scraps.

I took the cute primitive stamp and created this background.

TGIFC88 - Kaitlyn Z Designer Spotlight!

It's the last challenge of the year!  I hope that 2016 has been good to you and you're excited about 2017!  We had a great year in 2016 filled with more blessings than we deserve and we are anxious to see what the new year brings.  God is good - all the time!

So since it's Friday - that means there is a new challenge over at TGIF Challenges! Our new end of the month challenge shines the spotlight on a design team member and this month is the lovely Kaitlyn Zumbach!  I absolutely adore Kaitlyn's style - it's simple yet detailed and it really shows a lot of different elements while keeping things easy.  You might recognize some of her work in SU's catalogs and promotional flyers.  Kaitlyn is a concept designer that works at Stampin' Up! in Utah.  Lucky girl!

I found this card on Kaitlyn's instagram account, but you can find it on her website - Create with Kaitlyn - by clicking on the image above.  I liked the look of this card with the angled rectangles and thought it'd be a perfect layout for the new Cupcakes & Carousels stamp set and coordinating DSP.

I also really like this sentiment but didn't want to cover up the horse too much.

A little flicker of the Aqua Painter with Early Espresso ink to give the card a little extra detail.

Everyday Hero Trio

I have some fun cards for you today!  But before we start, have you entered my BIRTHDAY GIVEAWAY?? So today I have 3 cards using a new set from Stampin' Up! called Everyday Hero.  This is such a great set - for boys and girls - young and old!  I loved the old Calling All Heroes set from Stampin' Up! and was sad to see it go.  This set though far exceeds the other!  I think you'll agree!

I started by picking out this new designer series paper (DSP) called Urban Underground.  This is another sneak peek at some great masculine paper in the new catalog.  I decide to use Emerald Envy and Crushed Curry to offset the dark gray and black.

This set comes with a "D" and an "M" for dad and mom - but I decided to turn the M sideways for an "E" for our little Eli.  Perfect card for his lunchbox!

To create a longer skyline, I first stamped the image on thin computer paper - I find this paper makes the best masks.  Fussy cut as best as you can around the image to blend the images together.

This next card is so sweet!  I love the little sentiment. :)  

And it just so happens that the star from the Brights Enamel Shapes fits perfectly on the stamped star!

Lastly, I made a card with my mom in mind!  Superheroes can have grey hair too I think! 

The background sentiment is made with two separate stamps.  Because this set is photopolymer, this was easy to line up!

I made the skyline the same with the masking technique.  This time I stamped on two different grays.  I really like how this turned out!

Wintry Blues for TGIFC86

I'm not quite to the point where I'm feeling blue about all of the snow and cold weather, but if you ask me this weekend I might change my mind.  We are supposed to get 5" of snow this afternoon and Saturday's overnight low is -24 with a windchill of -40... I think we will be streaming our church service live in our pjs!

So to go along with today's forecast, the new challenge over at TGIF Challenges is "Let It Snow".

Forgive me for my poor lighting.  It's after 11pm and I just got back from Christmas shopping.  Santa only works when 3 little kids are in bed, right?

For the background, I embossed the snowflake from the Stitched with Cheer stamp set onto watercolor paper.  Then I used two different coloring techniques - Pool Party with my Aqua Painter and Bermuda Bay in the Spritzer.

I added some silver splatter by mixing Tombow Glue and water with my Aqua Painter, adding some Silver Emboss Powder and heat setting it with the Heat Tool.

For the sentiment, I used my Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Stampin' Write Markers.  The sentiment is from Wonder of Christmas.
